Summer Fun!
Summer is a favorite
season of the year for many who look forward to a little more time with
family, a break from school or that much-anticipated summer vacation.
Unfortunately this year, with the ever-rising price of gas, airfare and
entertainment, many summer enthusiasts are losing their excitement for
the season and are being forced to eliminate their summer activities.
But even with the price of everything going up there are still lots of
things we can do this summer that won’t break the budget.
In this issue of IMARA
Woman, we’re highlighting some summer fun ideas that don’t cost as much
money as that weeklong vacation in Florida or the Bahamas. This year
many families are exploring their summer fun options closer to home and
turning weeklong vacations into three or four-day getaways. Families are
pairing up and vacationing together with other family members to share
expenses. Others are not leaving home at all and instead are seeking out
attractions in their city or a nearby city and enjoying time off without
overnight travel. Still others are just relaxing at home and spending
some much-deserved “me time” reading books, redecorating or making time
for their favorite hobby.
Americans are working
harder and longer hours than ever before. On average, most of us take
fewer than 5 days of vacation from our jobs a year. Down from 7 days of
vacation a year a decade ago. With all the advances in technology, many
of us spend our vacations working—doing research, e-mailing or
communicating with our jobs via cell phone. It seems we live in a time
where our minds and bodies are constantly in motion and there is no time
for relaxation. But rest and relaxation are necessary to our ability to
perform better.
So this year even though
money is tight, find a way to take some “down time” for you and your
family. It doesn’t have to cost much maybe nothing at all. It’s just a
matter of spending a little quality time with your family and friends
and making time in your busy schedule for you!
Enjoy your summer break
whether you spend it traveling closer to home or staying at home because
before you know it, it’s back to work!
Be Blessed!
